City lawyers accused of torture threats in Gulf

Three high-flying City lawyers conspired to abuse and torture a “political prisoner” in the Gulf, it has been alleged in the High Court.

One of them allegedly told the man, who had been in solitary confinement in the United Arab Emirates for 560 days, that he had a reputation for shoving his foot “up many arses”.

In a claim that has rocked the legal profession, a former executive at the Ras al-Khaimah Investment Authority is suing the law firm Dechert, two of its partners and a former partner over alleged human rights abuses.
